Protect your house with Ember Resistant Vents

California Building Code Chapter 7A (new codes, effective January 2008, are for new construction only).

SECTION
704A.2.2:
Eave or cornice vents shall not be installed in eaves and cornices.

Exception: Eave and cornice vents may be used provided they resist the intrusion of flame and burning embers into the attic area of the structure.

TEST Standard ¼” Open Screen Vent Test Results

Fire and embers passed through the vent after 15 seconds of testing.

Tested at Western Fire Center Kelso WA. Test NO PN07059

Truly protecting a house, fire officials say, requires more rigorous steps to close off the smallest opening through which burning debris might enter.*
